Signed Mukesh Bhatt's Mulaqat . This was in 1999. He was later replaced by Akshay Kumar. Rani Mukherjee replaced Aishwarya Rai. Arvind Swamy was also signed but later replaced by
Chandrachur Singh. The film was to be directed by Vikram Bhatt. There was huge tug of war between producer Jankidas and Mukesh Bhatt over the legal rights to the title "Mulaqaat". Eventually Mukesh Bhatt shelved his film.His father Tahir Hussain's second wife Shahnaz use to write for a film magazine. She interviewed Aamir Khan on the sets of Tum Mere Ho.
His sister Nikhat was a widow. She is now remarried to Santosh Hedge. They have two children Seher and Shravan . His other sister Farhat is married to ex wife Reena's brother Rajeev.
Aamir Khan was signed for Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1991 with Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan. For some reason Aamir lost interest in the film and left the film. Juhi soon also exited the film. She felt guilty for leaving and promised she would do a special appearance in the film. Shah Rukh Khan was then promoted to the lead role and his previous role was given to Deepak Tijori. Suchitra was signed to replace Juhi Chawla.
Aamir Khan was part of the world tour concert " Craze 2001" with Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta,Gracey Singh. They traveled to England, America and Canada. The show in Vancouver was canceled due to the 9/11 attacks in New York. Aamir stated they did not feel like performing after the tragedy.
His uncle Sharif Hussain Khan was a production controller with Nasir Hussain Films.
Shashi Kapoor was keen to sign Aamir Khan for a film he was planning in 1988. Madhuri Dixit was already signed. Prayag Raj was to direct the film. Aamir rejected the offer and the film was shelved for unknown reasons.
