Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy went missing for several hours in his choopper giving anxious moments to the state administration.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) Wednesday evening pressed into service a frontline Sukhoi SU-30MKI combat jet that has night vision capabilities to locate the missing helicopter carrying Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
“Due to its better imagery and night vision capabilities, a Su-30 MKI has been pressed into service. It can look through the cloud and foliage cover in the area,” an IAF spokesman said.

Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, chief minister of India’s Andhra Pradesh state, was among five people killed when their helicopter crashed yesterday, television networks said, citing unidentified government officials.
Search teams found the wreckage of the helicopter on top of a hill 46 miles (74 kilometers) east of Kurnool town, Air Force Commodore Sagar Bharati told a televised press conference. A fleet of aircraft and ground teams had spent more than a day searching for Reddy, a leading politician from the ruling Congress Party.
